Four schools from Hamburg, Venice, Stockholm and Barcelona started an Erasmus+ project called The Sea Connection in 2018. This project led many students and teachers from these schools to participate in a quest in which they would find out about the past of their cities, their present and their future. They would discover how many things they had in common as European citizens of coastal cities as well as their differences. They learnt about the history and future of trade by sea and migration. They did research about the effects of harbour activity on the environment and discussed the future social challenges their cities would have to face.
In the course of these two years, these people were capable of producing outstanding materials that could enlighten the path for future generations who may be interested in these essential topics. This e-book is a compendium of all that effort and hard work. This e-book is a tribute to all the students, teachers, parents and all the people who have directly or indirectly participated in the project. Thanks to all and every single one of them.
